Motorola Razr 60 Ultra review

Introduction

The iconic Razr is back with the latest addition to the revitalized series – Razr 60 Ultra. It’s a flip foldable phone, duh, with a super compact body, an impressively fast 165Hz Dolby Vision screen, and the cream of the crop Snapdragon 8 Elite platform.

The new model brings spot-on improvements over the Razr 50 Ultra – higher screen resolution, flagship chipset, an ultrawide camera with macro capabilities, and a larger battery.

The Razr 60 Ultra is identical to the Motorola Razr Ultra for North America. Our review is based on the Razr 60 Ultra but most review findings should be applicable to the Razr Ultra as well.

The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is built around a foldable 7.0-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with 1224×2992 pixels, 165Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, and Dolby Vision and HDR10 certifications. The updated screen resolution is a welcome improvement over the 1,080p on the Razr 50 Ultra.

The cover screen, on the other hand, remains the same – a 4-inch 1080p LTPO AMOLED with matching capabilities to the foldable one.

The Razr 60 Ultra runs on the most potent chipset on the market – the Snadpragpn 8 Elite.

This Moto also comes with two 50MP rear cameras – a primary wide-angle camera with OIS that can offer up to 2x lossless zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide camera with autofocus for panoramic and macro shots. Nice! But wait, there is one more 50MP camera – the selfie one, up from 32MP on the 50 Ultra. It does not offer autofocus, though.

The new model is powered by a larger 4,700mAh battery capable of fast wired and wireless charging.

One more thing, which is probably the most obvious – the Razr 60 Ultra has a redesigned back panel, which, depending on the Pantone color option, can feature wood, faux leather, or faux alcantara finish.

Motorola has improved pretty much everything that we thought needed to be upgraded on the previous model – faster hardware, better screen, more versatile camera, larger battery, faster charging. It’s a promising package on paper, so let’s see if it delivers in practice.

Unboxing the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra

The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra ships inside a thin black box with a scented interior. It contains a USB-C cable and a premium ring case for protection and extra grip.

As far as phone cases come, this one is relatively unusual, but it’s well executed, and its color matches the phone’s paint job.

There is no charger inside the retail box. Motorola makes 68W TurboChargers but that’s an optional purchase. Any 65W+ PowerDelivery charger should be able to charge the Razr 60 Ultra quite fast.
